Here, I will explain what it is and how it works! <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In my previous blog, I told you about the <a href=\"http:\/\/dudokconsulting.nl\/help-mij-team-draait-niet-goed\/\">criteria for a well-functioning team<\/a>. One of them was structure. And structure is about context.<br \/>\nFor years, I struggled to align my team members. I often wondered why people took actions that were completely contrary to my vision as a leader. Only later did I learn that everyone has their own perception, their own model of reality. Oh, that means everyone does things according to their own understanding&#8230; And that can be so different from what I mean by it.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Why don\u2019t they do it?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cWhy don\u2019t my people do what I want?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cIsn\u2019t it clear to everyone how to handle this?\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI\u2019ve told them so many times what to do, why don\u2019t they do it?\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These are just a few examples of questions and comments I regularly hear from my clients. And then I ask: \u201cWhat have you done to get everyone on the same page?\u201d Or: \u201cHow do your team members know they need to do it this way?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Are you responsible for a team? You MUST have this; it holds everything together:<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Code of Honor &#8211; What is it?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The secret recipe for a golden team, for a well-functioning team, is the Code of Honor.<\/li>\n<li>It is a set of established rules that keep the team together under all circumstances.<\/li>\n<li>It is a guideline for new employees. I let new employees read and sign it.<\/li>\n<li>The Code of Honor transforms teams from good to great.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><em>Examples<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Would you like a few examples? Here are some rules from the Code of Honor that I use within my company:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Never leave a colleague who is in trouble.<\/li>\n<li>Don\u2019t burden others with your problems; think about solutions.<\/li>\n<li>Act immediately; be willing to give and receive feedback.<\/li>\n<li>Keep the energy high for yourself and your immediate surroundings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>What does it bring you?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clarity: there is no room for doubt or misunderstandings. Everyone is jointly responsible.<\/li>\n<li>You have a clear basis for a feedback structure.<\/li>\n<li>The team continues to function well under stress.<\/li>\n<li>It enhances success.<\/li>\n<li>It helps attract the right employees.<\/li>\n<li>Everyone plays by the same rules.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I am curious about your experiences.
